On the edge of the territory of Carpaneto is Badagnano, an old village with mediaeval remains such as the old tower-house. In an isolated position is the hermitage of San Espedito. In 1966 an ancient Roman dolium (a large ceramic pot) was discovered in the area known as Case Speroni. It is now on display in the Antiquarium at Veleia

Minor fortification in a strategic position
Today this building is privately owned and not open to the public. It stands in a strategic position to control the bridge over the Chero and to exact customs duties.
