Cogno San Bassano
The village of Cogno San Bassano lies at 850 m above sea level on the road between Farini and Pradovera. The history of Cogno San Bassano is basically the same as that of Cogno San Savino, which lay within the same feudal jurisdiction but on the right bank of the Rossana, the stream which runs through the district. Of particular interest is the square in front of the parish church, where there are the remains of the chapel of San Rocco, documented in the Middle Ages and later enlarged. Eventually the church was built, dedicated to San Bassano, bishop of Lodi. The main reason for the change in name was that many men from the village went to the area of Lodi, where they found work as woodsmen or in sawmills. The people of Lodi are devoted to their patron saint, Bassano. Behind the priest`s house is an impressive white Cross, the gift of the local parishioners.
