Corneliano

Probably of Roman foundation, Corneliano formed part of the municipium of Veleia. In 1072 Bishop Dionigi confirmed the grant of Corneliano to the Benedictines of San Savino. In the Middle Ages the village had a church, which became an independent parish in the 14th century, and a castle (which was still standing in the 19th century), that has completely disappeared. The most significant buildings are the parish church of San Michele and the Villa Rocca, set in a magnificent park.

Built near the river Riglio, the dedication takes us back to the time of the Lombards.
