The itinerary that we suggest starts in the plain, in Carpaneto, where you will find a number of delicatessens and restaurants, famed for serving Coppa Dop, the local PDO cured meat that originated here, where they celebrate a festa dedicated to this speciality.
You continue towards Vigolzone, passing through San Giorgio P.no and Podenzano.
At Vigolzone they make the tortello con la coda De.Co, pasta filled with ricotta and spinach or greens; the Pro Loco organises a huge festa in honour of the tortello at the end of July every year. You can buy the tortelli in the shops selling fresh pasta, or enjoy it along with a glass of the DOC wines produced on the hills starting from Vigolzone. We recommend a visit to one of the many wineries indicated.
Around Albarola you can still find the Fig Cake, the Torta di fichi De.Co, which you can sample in some of the agriturismi in the area.
Ponte dell'Olio celebrates the Pancetta Dop, a PDO cured meat similar to bacon, with a big festa at the end of June. You can buy pancetta in the delicatessens or taste it in the local restaurants and agriturismi.
In the bakeries and food shops of Bettola you will find the Bortellina De.Co, a particular bread, which you can try also during the festa at the end of August, as well as in some of the local restaurants.
The municipality of Farini suggests a number of potato-based recipes: the Torta di patate De.Co, or potato cake, potato gnocchi , and polenta with potatoes De.Co. In this area we suggest you try the Mariola, a particular salame patronised by the Slow Food presidio .
You will find this product in the delicatessens as well as in the restaurants and agriturismi of the district.
And now, after all these suggestions, it is time for you to set out and taste some of these delicacies!
