On Monday 24 December from 10 pm in piazza Colombo in Bettola the representation of the Nativity will once again take place. On this occasion all the players will also assist at Midnight Mass, which will be celebrated in the parish church of the Madonna della Quercia.
More than 100 volunteer performers will bring the square to life on the three evenings, with representations of traditional crafts, while others will play the parts of key characters in the story of the birth of Jesus, which will be told by narrators.
There will be many traditional crafts and there will be animals in the Nativity scenes; music and "special effects" will help to create a magical atmosphere.
The narrators will tell the story of the Annunciation, Joseph's dream, the census, Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem, the birth of Jesus, the adoration of the shepherds and, finally, the arrival of the Magi.
At the end of each representation, while the players continue performing, all those in the audience will have the chance to follow a particular route so as to admire from close up the stable of the Holy Family. In addition, there will be vin brulè for everyone.
The evenings of 26 December and 4 January the show will begin at 9 pm.
You are advised to park along the Nure, as piazza Colombo will be taken up by the scenery for the show.
