The traditional Santa Lucia concert will be held in the beautiful church of Santa Maria Assunta at Villò di Vigolzone on Sunday 9 December at 9 pm, thanks to the municipal administration.
This year the concert will be classical music performed by the Ensemble Banda Larga on instruments that are faithful copies of the 18th-century originals. This choice was made in order to present some of the most famous pages of music written at that time. The stringed instruments (stringed in gut), the well-tempered harpsichord and the ancestor of the transverse flute, reply to each other in duets, trying to recreate the sounds of an era when concerts were held by candlelight.
Some of the great classics of the time will be performed, such as Corelli's "Concerto for Christmas night", Bach's very famous Suite nr.2 in B minor, and the Concerto "La Notte" for flute and strings, one of the most daring concertos fronm a technical point of view that Vivaldi wrote for this instrument.
