Vigolzone on show 2013
From Sunday 13 October to 10 November 2013 at the Civic Centre in via Castignoli
Coinciding with the Autumn Fair in Vigolzone – programmed for Sunday 13 October - three exhibitions will be opened at the Civic Centre in via Castignoli (formerly the schools).
The exhibitions – entrance is free - will remain open until 10 November every Saturday and Sunday.
From 11 am on 13 October it will be possible to visit the exhibition ‘Vigolzone e i mulini ad acqua: le ruote del pane e le ruote della carta - Vigolzone and watermills: bread wheels and paper wheels’, a collection of photographs and documents illustrating the history of mills in the Po Valley, especially in the territory of Vigolzone. The exhibition has been organised by the association Culture per lo Sviluppo Locale in collaboration with the Associazione Italiana Amici dei Mulini Storici (Italian Asssociation of the Friends of Historic Watermills) and the Municipality of Vigolzone.
At the same time there will also be an archaeological exhibition: ‘Alle origini di Vicus Ussoni. Storia di un popolamento antico: Vigolzone tra l’età del ferro e il periodo longobardo - The origins of Vicus Ussoni. History of an ancient settlement: Vigolzone from the Iron Age to the Lombard period’. This is the initiative of the GAVN (Gruppo Archeologico della Val Nure - Archaeological Group of the Nure Valley) under the scientific supervision of the Soprintendenza ai Beni Archeologici dell’Emilia Romagna with the patronage of the Municipality of Vigolzone and aims to enhance the value of the archaeological heritage of Vigolzone by displaying the artefacts discovered in this area. In the localities of Mount Dinavolo, Poggio di Carmiano and Bagnolo material has been disovered predating the Romans, while at Mansano di Carmiano and Stradella there have been disoveries of Roman material. At Borgo di Sotto tombs with the tomb goods from Lombard burials in the early Middle Ages have been found.
Finally, from 13 October to 10 November it will be possible to see the photographs that were accepted for the 2013 edition of the national and local photographic competitions organised by the ANSPI club Rifugio Alpino on the two subjects: 'The tree as a leading element in the landscape' and 'Vigolzone in photographs, rural witnesses'.
The archaeological exhibition may be visited on Saturday and Sunday between 10 am and 1 pm and between 2 and 7 pm; the other two exhibitions will be open only on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Groups and schools may visit the exhibitions from Monday to Friday (up until 10 November) by appointment.
