Sariano near Gropparello - nature trails, walks and cycle tracks

Three nature walks and cycle tracks in the Vezzeno valley

Three nature trails of notable quality start at Sariano. The description together with the road map and plan are below and attached.

PINK TRAIL - NUMBER 1
Easy route, suited to families with children, running alongside the Vezzeno stream, crossing the sports ground of Sariano, where there is a playground and large park area where children can play, ideal for open-air relaxation. The route is mostly on flat ground, partly on a road and partly on an accessible cycle track.

This is not a circular route, but you go to the locality Cerini near the artisan district of Sariano anmd return; however, for MTB enthusiasts it is possble to continue towards Carpaneto along the banks of the Vezzeno as far as Cimafava di Carpaneto through areas of extremely high naturalist quality.
The route takes its name from an annual event, the 'Cammina in Rosa', organised by the Associazione Armonia (breast cancer) with the patronage of the Municipality of Gropparello.

BLUE ROUTE - NUMBER 2
The Blue Route starts from the 18th-century parish church of Sariano, dedicated to San Severo; it starts flat on a tarred road, then follows a long flat section on gravel, where you can see the Castle of Sariano to the north. Passing through the hamlet of Case Badini, you continue along a track, entering the Park of the Placenziano. The route takes its name from the blue clays of the Park.

The path runs alongside the Rio Rosello; along this stream lies one of the nine areas of the Riserva Naturale Geologica del Placenziano, characterised by the presence of important fossil remains, including particular botanic and fauna species. The path then goes uphill through the woods, fording the Rio Rosello several times, reaching the locality I Gelati.
From the Provincial Road it is possible to see the town of Gropparello before climbing in the direction of the 'Chiesa Vecchia', visible only externally. From here the path descends through the woods with chestnut trees and then follows the old municipal road of the Villane that links Gropparello to Sariano.

BORDEAUX ROUTE - NUMBER 3
The Bordeaux Route starts from the car and camper park near the Gropparello ring road. It climbs towards I Gelati, goes through the locality Boccacci and continues on a panoramic path from which you can admire the Castle of the Rossi near Gusano, where they celebrate the chestnut harvest every year on the first Sunday in October, as the chestnuts from the centuries-old trees of these forests are famous for their quality. The path ontinues gently uphill, veering towards Razzoni and finally reaching Grondesso, to continue on a track fording the Vezzeno, which rises only a little higher up from Mount Falo’ near Poggio Micheli.
The Bordeaux Route, dedicated to the cultivation of the vine, gives views over the Riglio and Chero valleys; from Gropparello it takes us to Castellana, a hillside area planted with vineyards, where the ancient vines of white and red Besegano are once again being cultivated and appreciated.

Road book and altimetric profile of the three routes can be found on the attached file.
