On leaving Piacenza, the Nure valley begins with Podenzano. The municipality covers 44.58 sq km, all within the plain, and has nearly 9000 inhabitants.The time-honoured commitment to agriculture of this area is now supplemented by industry and commerce but a walk through Podenzano, the outlying villages or the open countryside will soon reveal signs of history and art, as well as places to taste the famous food products of the area or to buy cured meats, cheeses and other typical products.
