Set between the river and the hills, at an altitude of just over 200 m, is Ponte dell`Olio. Previously known as Ponte Albarola, the present name was adopted when the town became an important centre for the storage and sale of Ligurian olive oil. It has been a municipality since 1806.

Every month a rich calendar of dance music, opera concerts, rock music and plays in dialect at the Athena live Music Club.
The Villa San Bono was built in the 18th century along with the attached chapel, in a dominant position in the town of Ponte dell’Olio.
Ponte dell’Olio boasts the oldest band in the province of Piacenza: the Giubbe Rosse.
The parish church of San Giacomo in Ponte dell’Olio houses one of the most important organs of the Nure valley, built by Antonio Sangalli in 1860.
The church was rebuilt in 1272, as is recorded on a plaque in the churchyard. Inside is a valuable organ built by the maestro Antonio Sangalli.
Giovanni Rossi, an industrialist and aware of the social needs of his time, came originally from the Nure Valley, an area that owes much of its development to him.
Recently restored by the municipality, the monumental complex of the kilns of Ponte dell'Olio was built from 1890 by the Azienda Calce Val Nure to produce quicklime for building purposes.

The best way to discover Ponte dell'Olio is to walk along the borgo, the street lined with shops that recalls the great trading history of the place.
