Church of San Bartolomeo Apostolo at Obolo

Parish church of Obolo

We do not know the date of foundation of the church, probably founded as a chapel attached to the ancient Hospital of St Bartholomew the Apostle.
The church was never a Pieve, or central district church, and probably had already lost importance in the 16th century, then falling into ruin.

The present church of San Bartolomeo Apostolo is a simple building, with a gabled façade and a single nave without aisles.

Next to the church there stands a tall campanile designed by Professor Giovanni Casali and built at the end of the 1950s, surmounted by a spire and iron cross.
Casali also designed some of the side altars inside the church.

Since 2007 an attractive wooden fountain has stood in front of the priest's house, sheltered by a protecting roof.
