San Giorgio Piacentino
Along the provincial highway that joins Piacenza to the Arda valley, the municipality of San Giorgio covers about 50 sq km of land, at first flat but pleasingly orderly and well-cultivated, then rising to hills, their slopes covered with vineyards. Set apart and quieter are the small valleys of the Riglio and Ogone, offering inviting easy walks. Here and there are glimpses of towers, castles, villas and churches, witnessing to a rich past. Often one comes across pilgrims, alone or in groups. Everywhere one is invited to discover and savour the local produce.
