Feast of St John Bosco at Pieve di Revigozzo
The Feast of St John Bosco .... in the good weather
The devotion to St John Bosco was introduced to Revigozzo in the 1930s by the Archpriest, don Giuseppe Polledri, who had studied under the Salesians and had known Don Bosco personally.
Today the village festival coincides with the celebrations dedicated to St John Bosco, but, while in the rest of the world the feast is celebrated on 31 January, at Revigozzo the date chosen is ......... the second Sunday after Easter. The reason? In our mountains it is too cold in January and sometimes the snow and ice make it diffcult to reach Revigozzo.
The festival is very important to the villagers (who work hard every year to ensure it is a success), but also to all those whose families orignally came from this area but who now live far away, but wish to return at least on this occasion to meet up with friends and relations.
