Schola Cantorum of San Giorgio
Directed by Anna Solinas, soloist soprano of the Quartetto Jobell of Piacenza
Founded in the 1970s as a parish choir, for twenty years the Schola Cantorum was led by Enrico Colombi, who gathered together a goodly number of singers, nearly a hundred, coming also from Piacenza, San Polo and the outlying villages around San Giorgio.
Today the choir is directed by Anna Solinas (soloist soprano of the Jobell Quartet of Piacenza) and includes thirty mixed voices, accompanied on the keyboard by Susan Bortollotti.
Over the years the repertoire of the choir has expanded considerably; alongside pieces of sacred music, pieces of opera and contemporary music have made their appearance. To promote and encourage the musical tradition of the area, the Schola Cantorum of San Giorgio now also performs well-known songs of Piacenza.
