From Calenzano to the waterfalls on the Perino
Trekking route to discover the waterfalls on the Perino river
Leave your car near the church of San Lorenzo in Calenzano. A path marked by the CAI (red and white marks) at first follows a gravel road between some cultivated fields, past an agriturismo, and finally upstream along the watercourse which flows lower down on the right of the path. You pass the mill of Rie', and finally a series of waterfalls of varying height between 3 and 5 metres, all with metal holds for climbing the rocks.
It is, however, possible to follow the path and make detours every now and again to see the stream and the falls.
The time needed to follow the path can therefore vary depending on whether you try the rock-climbing or not. In any case, suitable trekking equipment is recommended.
The Cascades are also the goal of day- and night-time excursions organised by the ANSPI of Calenzano, which organises a series of different feste and sagre (culture and nature, St Lawrence's day, ...) in the months of June, July and August.
