Riglio Valley
The Riglio rises in the woods of Mount Obolo, in the municipal territory of Bettola, and flows for 38 km before emptying its waters into the Chiavenna, in the plain close to Caorso.
The valley of the Riglio is wrapped in quiet, the first part clothed in thick forests. Small villages, towers, churches and castles emerge from the lush vegetation surrounding them. The tranquillity is almost unreal.
The prettiest part of the valley, from Riglio di Bettola to Case Nuove di San Giorgio, can be reached only along a narrow road halfway up the hillside, with fascinating views over the glorious empty countryside. Only once past San Giorgio in the plain, does the countryside become busier.
