Trekking on Mount Osero
From the church of S. Lorenzo in Calenzano, situated at 703 m above sea level, you take the marked path 181 which follows the road as far as Piccoli, where, at the fountain, close to the chapel of San Rocco, you turn off on to a track that leads on the right to the farm "Lago di Bens".
Here, again on the right, a country road leads gently uphill, soon reaching the ridge dominating the hamlet of Leggio (30 min).
Passing a ruin, continue along the slopes of Monte Osero until you reach path 001, coming from the Cerro pass (1058 m, 30 min). The trail now becomes steeper and more difficult, winding south along the crest in beech woods and exiting into broad open pastures that hide the summit of Monte Osero (1301 m, 45 min). From the summit, in a south-west direction, you follow the fence at the edge of a steep wooded cliff, cross a rocky area on the left and reach the panoramic Costa Suriana, where you turn right.
Entering a beech wood, you descend and cross the Rio del Buco (1050 m, 30 min) and then, approaching Calenzano, the path becomes easier. You cross clearings and fields and enjoy broad views over the Perino valley below, and then reach the road leading back to the church (45 min).
