Trekking on Mount Aserei
This hiking itinerary follows paths marked by the CAI (Italian Alpine Club), starting from Mareto.
Leave your car immediately after the village of Mareto, in the car park on the edge of the tarred road.
Follow the CAI path 027 towards the west for about 40 min. until you reach Fontanone at 1179 m.
Climb a grassy slope and when you reach a gravel road, follow it for twenty minutes, ignoring the signs for path 001 (that leads on the left to Ciregna and the Mercatello pass, and on the right to the Cappelletta and Cerro passes). After a bridge over a stream you leave the road to climb a grassy hill on the left. Follow a line marked by trees (red and white blazes on their trunks), keeping to the right of the dip in a westward direction and enter the woods following the signs of the path. When you reach Cima Liscaro (1306 m, 20 min), take path 151 southwards (coming from the S Barbara pass) and cross the last pastures to reach the area of reafforestation with conifers that characterises the summit of Monte Aserei (1432 m, 30 min).
You return along the fence surrounding the summit in a south-westerly direction until, at 1308 m, you reach path 001.
Turn left to go northwards along a well-marked track, descending gently between pastures and woods of chestnut and hazel as far as Fontanone (45 min) (see photo). Take path 027, and in about 30 minutes you will reach Mareto.
