Crag martin
The rivers and streams of the Apennines are frequently crossed by bridges, and there are steep rock walls of sandstone along their course. These are ideal nesting places for the crag martin.
This is a small bird with light brown plumage, with a series of delicate white marks on its tail like a collar.
It is a migratory species, though only partially so. It can be seen already from late February near streams.
