Gropparello
What to see
The capital of the Vezzeno valley has ancient roots, partly hidden under its modern hardworking appearance.
The town stands just above an ophiolithic cliff crowned by the imposing castle, private property but open to visitors (see below), and a walk along its streets is rewarding.
The Piazza is a real panoramic terrace opening over the course of the Vezzeno. Further on in a slghtly higher position is the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, designed last century by the architect Pietro Berzolla. Continuing, you reach the woods, the bosco della Libertà, where, in a truly panoramic poistion stands the so-called Chiesa Vecchia, the old church.
