San Giorgio Piacentino
Things to see
The town of San Giorgio Piacentino, although it does not possess particular works of art, is nevertheless worth visiting to discover some unexpected corners and a few pleasant surprises.
The Castle should be seen, founded probably about the year 1000, but modified on many occasions and today the Town Hall. Various events are held in the courtyard, especially in summer.
The church of San Giorgio is not far from the castle. It stands on the site of a Romanesque church or pieve, dating from the 9th century.
Next to the church is the chapel of the Ossuary, built last century. Between the church and the castle, in piazza Caduti, is another 20th-century construction, the Monument to the Fallen.
